The community profile of Vernal Edge is harsh, and it deserves saying plainly: on almost every line it lands near the bottom. As the game you would take to a desert island, it barely edges past anyone. Attachment, hardly better. What lifts a little is fun and the wish to rediscover it, both ahead of roughly a quarter of the games, with its soundtrack sitting about there too. Careful though, all of this rests on very few votes, two to six duels depending on the criterion. The early signals are clear, but nothing is set in stone.

In the 2D Metroidvania space, the competition is brutal. The genre is packed with landmarks that had years to settle into players' memories, and Vernal Edge shows up with a demanding aerial combat system, more technical than immediately seductive. That is likely where it stumbles: a game that makes you earn it struggles in a duel decided by gut feeling.

So, who is it for? For you if you like air combos, precision, games that ask you to actually improve before they reward you, and a revenge story that never tries to flatter you. Much less so if you expect a Metroidvania to sweep you away effortlessly in the first hour.
