And yet, criterion by criterion, it is solid: the wish to rediscover it, art style, controller feel, and fun all finish well above average. How to explain the paradox? Probably that horror does not spark instinctive love in everyone: people recognize the quality of the remake, but when it comes to instinctively choosing a game they prefer, the tension and dread work against it.

Next to other survival and horror games, this 2019 remake is unanimously hailed as a success, modernizing a classic without betraying it.
