Bend Studio's open-world zombie survival game had all the ingredients for a PS4 classic, but the community's verdict tells a more complicated story.

The emotional profile is uneven. The sound design stands out, sitting right at the midpoint of all ranked games, and the "would you replay this?" factor is similarly solid, above half of everything in the catalog. But the connection players feel to Deacon and his world is near the bottom of the rankings, in the lowest 10%. Fun and narrative both sit well below average. These aren't small gaps. They suggest a game that sounds great and has some replayable moments, but struggles to make you actually care.

Open-world survival games live or die on emotional investment. Compared to the best in the genre, Days Gone falls short on the criteria that matter most: the story pulling you in, the world feeling special, the urge to keep playing.

If you love riding through post-apocalyptic landscapes, managing resources, and clearing enemy camps without needing a gripping story to push you forward, this one delivers enough. But if you came for a memorable protagonist and a world you want to get lost in, you will likely find it hollow. An honest B-tier entry in a crowded genre.
