The detail confirms its emotional strengths: attachment climbs almost to the top, ahead of 96% of titles, and the soundtrack follows, very high, two pillars of the Final Fantasy VII legacy. The wish to rediscover it and controller feel hold up well too. Further back, fun and art style stay around average, perhaps the downside of a story stretched over the single city of Midgar, which slows the pace at times.

Next to other role playing games, this ambitious remake modernizes a classic while reinventing its real time combat system.

So, who is it for? For you if you like narrative RPGs, strong characters, and an exceptional soundtrack. Much less if an at times slow pace or the wait for the sequel puts you off.
