Analysis generated from community votes
A rabbit rewinding time, and suddenly a 2D platformer turns into a philosophy exercise.
On gut feeling alone, the community places Braid just above the middle, ahead of a little more than half the games. A polite welcome. But the criterion by criterion detail tells a different story, and a far more interesting one. On the game you wish you could discover again for the first time, Braid rises ahead of 94% of titles, and its hand painted art style ahead of 84%. Then everything collapses elsewhere. Controller feel sits very low, and as the game you would take to a desert island, it lands at the very bottom, close to last. Careful though, those lines rest on very few votes, so treat them as early signals. The tension is already readable: people keep the memory of the shock, not the urge to return.
That makes sense for a puzzle platformer built on revelation. A solved puzzle does not get solved twice, and criteria about long term attachment do not reward this kind of game, short, dense, deliberately free of filler.
So, who is it for? For you if you like a game that rewires your brain and stays with you for days, and if you value the idea over the feel of the pad. Much less so if you want something you fire up at night just for the pleasure of playing.
