Rapture rises back up from the depths, and with it a utopia that turned into a nightmare.

Start with the gut call. When the community decides on instinct, no thinking, BioShock Remastered only edges ahead of a quarter of all games. Lower than you would expect. But the detail by criterion tells another story, one to confirm on few votes. The controller feel sits ahead of 80% of titles, attachment and fun climb to around three quarters of the pack. Art direction holds firm, just above average. Only the sound side lands right in the middle. There is the tension: a game you respect once you dissect it, but one that does not impose itself in the rush of a first reflex.

In the family of narrative shooters, BioShock remains a benchmark, the kind of title that makes you think between two gunfights. Its underwater mood and fallen world have not aged a day.

So, for who? For you if you love a universe that tells itself as much as it plays, a chilling world you explore more than you cross. Much less if you want instant love at first sight, this one is earned more than it seduces on sight.
